Bushkill Township Volunteer Fire Company was established in 1959 and currently consists of 4 divisions:
Fire, EMS, Fire Police, and Ladies Auxiliary.
Our mission is to save lives, protect the residents property and the environment of our community. Bushkill Township Volunteer Fire Company provides 24 hour, 7 days a week, 365 days a year Fire Protection and Basic Life Support (BLS) Ambulance Service to Bushkill Township residents and Rescue Services to the Borough of Wind Gap
With a population of 7,500 Bushkill Township Volunteer Fire Company and Ambulance Corp. is operated by volunteers, covering an area of 25.08 square miles. BTVFC Fire, Rescue and EMS not only provides Emergency Service to residents of Bushkill Township, Northampton County but also provides mutual aid service to surrounding communities when requested.
In 2006 the general body of BTVFC realized that protecting it's residents was more important than tradition. With the growing number of homes within the township and time restraints of dwindling volunteers it was not possible to professionaly and efficiently provide volunteer emergency services during daytime hours. So in July 2007 the BTVFC put in service paid EMT's to cover a 12 hour shift from 5 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. This ended a 48 year run at being 100% volunteer, however, it's a small price when compared to the protection of the residents of Bushkill Township. It's a priceless investment.
President Allen Smith currently oversees and heads all functions of the Bushkill Township Volunteer Fire Company.
